Welcome to the Peaks of Otter Conservation Association’s (POCA) web site.  POCA (formerly the Bedford Citizens for Land Preservation – BCLP) is a volunteer, citizen-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization which is dedicated to conserving Bedford’s open space and rural landscape.  We have designed this web site to provide you with relevant information dealing with conservation issues.  We hope you find this web site useful and we would welcome any suggestions on how to improve it.

Spring Landowner Workshop on Conservation Easements 

If you are a landowner who would like more information on the possibility of conserving your land through a conservation easement, then plan on attending a Landowner Workshop on April 8, 2010, at 7:00 PM in the Bedford Area Welcome Center, 816 Burks Hill Road.  The workshop is being sponsored by the Western Virginia Land Trust (WVLT).  If you are unable to attend this workshop, WVLT is sponsoring other workshops throughout the region.

Bedford County Agricultural Economic Development Advisory Board 

In the spring of 2007, the Bedford County Board of Supervisors established the Agricultural Economic Development Advisory Board as an independent advisory board. 

Their mission is to develop and implement a continuing plan to sustain and enhance our rural economy, including (but not limited to) support for farms, dairies, cattle operations, orchards,
specialty growers and businesses that support agriculture.  For mroe information about this board, click here.
